and a magic shillelagh.

Elijah was a leprechaun over on the Emerald Isle.
He saw a lonely maiden on her way to Galway Bay
along the highway paved with shattered dreams,
and asked “Why ye lookin’ so somber, Lass?” in his jaunty style.
Quite despondent, she responded, “’Twas to be my wedding day,
but the bloke absconded, because, it seems, he had other schemes."

You may say leprechauns are just a fantasy,
but they’re as real as the doubts that shackle, can’t you see?
They’ll spin tragic into magic to help you cope,
if you keep your heart open to a beam of hope.
When you need a friend, here comes that rainbow again.

Elijah answered, “Never fear, me dear, true love be near.”
He swung his trusty shillelagh in the air to chase
away the cloud of gloom that hung above her head.
Sure and begorrah! A gorgeous rainbow did appear
to guide them across Shamrock Valley to a better place--
the place where a brighter future waited, Elijah said.

You may say leprechauns are just a fantasy,
but they’re as real as the doubts that shackle, can’t you see?
They’ll spin tragic into magic to help you cope,
if you keep your heart open to a beam of hope.
When you need a friend, here comes that rainbow again.

Elijah took the maiden by the hand to revise her routines.
Trudging together over hill and rugged heath,
they followed that rainbow toward their destiny.
On that journey, they came to understand what love means.
She looked past his wrinkled face and found the kind soul beneath.
Under the homely, he saw passion brewing and asked “Will ye marry me?”

You may say leprechauns are just a fantasy,
but they’re as real as the doubts that shackle, can’t you see?
They’ll spin tragic into magic to help you cope,
if you keep your heart open to a beam of hope.
When you need a friend, here comes that rainbow again.
