Poem - Our days become years before we know it. |
Days Become Years Far in life, remembering when, Reasoning why what might have been, Looking back a reflective glance, If only given another chance. Many times failed yet life went on, Perplexities lost, resolutely won, Mistakes were made while trying our best, Some things would change, accepting the rest. How quickly our youth did silently flee, The Spirit of youth, A spirit so free, As the days turn year upon year, Lost forever, I’ll miss it I fear. We faced life young, fearless and strong, Not conscious of strife, nothing was wrong, We’d meet any challenge no matter the cost, In later years this passion was lost. Friendships come, many will go, Eventually vanish like melting snow, Traveling through life in their own way, Making their memories of yesterday. When life requires to turn the page, Have remembrance of a passing age, Sons and Daughters, they too as all, In their Autumn days shall also recall. Live each day as though the last, Forget the problems of the past, Enjoy this time, make free of sorrow, What’s lived today is a memory tomorrow. It’s time to slow down, reflect on the past, We knew all along nothing would last, Take each day and live it with pride, Worked all our lives, now here for the ride. George T. Regenauer |
