Gazing at the Future

The inspiration for the following poem is from: "DreamTime Dragon's Poem Contest"   by eyestar~*
The images and phrase "On the edge of a new dawn" were the prompts from which the inspiration was drawn. Two picture prompts inspired this along with the phrase, one was a dragon perched on the edge of a cliff as the night edges towards the dawn. The other was Dragons flying around a castle as dawns golden rays light the dark sky. It was supposed to be something to do with dragons, and yet the image at the beginning made me wonder what would that dragon be thinking? They are supposed to be ageless and wise beyond the measures of our human mind.

On the Edge of a New Dawn,
perched upon the threshold of the past,
gazing upon the future.

By not the tolling bell
does a year disappear but
by the rising sun of a new year.

The sky sheds her dark velvet mantel
and golden rays spring forth from
beyond the horizon's edge.

The year begins anew,
as the day is born.

Brilliant streams of color grace the sky.
The world is aglow in its youthful radiance.

The sun begins its rise
into the lightning sky
on a procession through the heavens,
On the Edge of a New Dawn.
