A poem about a certain place that helps me solve my problems.
My heartbeat quickens but I'm okay,
running faster, away from this day,
the sweat is pouring down my face,
when I stop at my very favorite place;
on a bridge overlooking the river,
suddenly everything seems clearer.

Your words stung when they hit me,
they weren't mean but they weren't pretty,
and maybe if you saw things from my point of view,
there would've been more that you could do.
I look down at the river, a tree casts its shade,
and as the sun lowers the whole river will fade.

You said I should try to be proud,
your actions and gestures scream all too loud,
and maybe someday, what you'll do,
is realize exactly why I needed you.
A leaf falls from a tree down into the river,
to be lost in the current forever.

Sometimes with our best we still fail,
we work so hard, yet can't prevail,
and we give up everything for nothing in return,
life is a lesson; it's the hardest to learn.
A fork in the river causes it to part,
and I wonder if rivers can have a broken heart.

Once in a while, it seems we should quit,
I'd rather just fall than take the hit,
but when it's all been done and all been said,
will it really matter in the end?
So I look down at the river and I know,
it may be rough, but it will always flow.
