How can you love again and trust again when you have been hurt so much?
Darker

Holding me tight; I close my eyes and feel my allergies either started to kick in or something was bothering my eyes. The reason why was because I felt myself starting to cry. My eyes filled with water, salty water that hysterically ran down my cheeks and down my chin. Sadly, crying my heart out. My tears danced down my face, out of my eyes, down my cheeks, and around my chin.

He lifted my face to his, “Why are you crying, my love?” I began to open my mouth to answer but my tears made me close it. I couldn’t tell him what was wrong or why I was crying. For fear of being hurt again. Lied to again. Pain forcing its way in once I try and open up to him. Pain choking me, killing me…once again. But, the man bringing me back…again. With his gentle touch and his sweet words of pleasure and sudden promises.

“Hmm?” He hummed.

I open my mouth and speak, “I know you mean well,” he still holding me in his arms. “But, I’m lost and confused. A broken girl at that.”

He shook his head and responded, “No, you are much more then that.” I look deeply into his eyes trying to see his past and his lies. But, I saw none, everything he did, he had done.

“Then what am I to you?” He gently knelt on the ground laying both of us down, he lay me down first, and then he lay beside me.

“You are what changed my life. You made me better then I was. You, you, you.”

I heard that word come out of his mouth at the beginning of every sentence. I didn’t pay attention to what he was really saying. I was busy watching his lips, I wouldn’t know if they were sweet or not so much. They would shine as the sun hit them, they never dried out.

“Are you okay?” He asked me.

I snapped back and answered, “Yes, I am fine.” It was the truth.

“No, what’s wrong?” He began to pester.

Soaring with the birds and butterflies, I felt I had my wings snatched when he asked that. “It’s just…”

“Yes?” I felt like I was being rushed. Darkness came back, but this time DARKER! I sat up, my head off the ground, he began to get impatient. He jumped on me and pinned me to the ground. His body on top of mine, I started to kick my legs, then stopped and shut my eyes. Once again…this time I wanted to be in the darkness I wanted to be alone, away from the harm…but in the dark things crept and fell. Walked, talked the creatures of the night/Dark.

“Open your eyes and tell me what is wrong.” I kept my eyes shut. “Broken girl, lost girl, unloved girl. Feeling alone, trapped.” Pants scared, he continues to pin me, his grip harden.

“Scared, lost, torn. Please don’t hurt me.” He got up and helped me, “I-you have to understand that I am not here to hurt you. I am here to love you like you need to be, like you should be.” I suddenly believed.
