When the night arrives, when the people are asleep, what is happening? |
When the darkness spreads And humans are fast asleep Is when the creepy night crawlers Come out, crawl and creep When the city lights are out But the moon is fat and bright Is when the fun begins For the creatures of the night Oh! They are no hooty owls Or wolves or even bats They're no cobras or pythons, Or hyenas or rats They are far different; vile fierce ones That you have never seen With ruined distorted looks You can't possibly imagine! They lurk in unnoticed shadows When you're awake during the day And when you rest in your cozy bed, They come out to play. They've furry skin & yellow eyes And long strong jaws They look like they're in disguise, With sharp teeth and pointy claws They're faster than cheetahs. And can hear better than bats They're swifter than deer With sharper eyes than cats. They hunt at the dead of the night Enjoying it a great deal If an unlucky human passes by He'd be monster meal! Next morning, he'd be gone, With no skeleton, no evidence, no trace And not even the smartest detectives Will succeed in solving this case. And thus, these monsters dwell, Unnoticed by anyone, Even though they exist Right under this very sun! I'll end this poem now About the Creatures of the Night 'Cause it's twelve o'clock -- I'm starving, And I'm ready for a bite! |
