on your wedding day
Maybe it's my jealousy, or maybe it's my pride,
That I feel I should wear the shoes of your brand new bride.
I hope she knows the jewel she found; I hope she sees the prize;
That no better man has lived as yet, while no lesser man survives.

I can't help but envy you; I can't help but pine,
For all the love he showers in a way that's so divine.
I've never met a purer heart; never had a friend so kind,
Never knew a more deserving soul of a love truly sublime.

So give him all that he deserves; the best of all your life.
Bring honor to the title of being called his wife.
Do not further break my fragile heart by causing strife;
Just take away the one I love and leave me here to die.
