My first non-rhyming poem. What do you think?
When I look around me,
I see a world filled with nothing but sorrow and hatred.
Nobody is smiling, nobody cares.
Except for me.
I am afraid I will drown in this ocean of woe.
My blithesome state of mind is in danger of being abolished, by the lyncher of society.
I can’t let this obtain me.
I won’t.
I need to escape this maze of despair, before I am completely misplaced.
I need to detach,
I need to break free.
It seems it’s too late.
The angst that civilization has trapped me under has thieved me of my gaiety once and for all.
I have become one of them,
Enthralled in my own self-pity and rage.
Why have you brought me down to the desolate hole that you and so many others subside in?
Unfasten me from these ropes of gloom and allow me to experience mirth once more.
Let me fly to a place that’s vacant of these miserable ways.
Set me free.
