A little something I wrote on Halloween one year while unamused with an ex of mine.

We are the Darlings of the Damned!

Dancing our dead waltz as the Maestro of
Worms commands the consecrated grounds to chorus!

A skeletal ball!
A masquerade for all Hell to see!

Come with me
Feel my clammy hands on your hips!

See how you have delivered me from sanity!
Listen to the tales of this place.

We are the babes of Beelzebub!
The corpses of true lovers betrayed!

Stirring the dust and bone
Twirling through the between spaces
The living have left us behind
We are no use to hearts unscathed

Be wary of our dance, of our song
I am the omen you must wear
Treacherous lover
You abandonment left me among these nameless stones

Enigmatic are the delights found here
We know now the Reaper

We spark the curiosity of Nightingales!
Coming and going from the pit below as we please

Cry, as I cry
Lurk, as we lurk

Weightlessly we will glide
This place our ballroom!
With silken sacks dangling in our hair we cherish our demise

Among the graves that await us
We transcend the flesh!

But you cannot stay in the cemetery for long
For you are not as we
Your tongue bright and arrogant
It has laid waste to my spirit
Still yet, your heart knows not of true sorrow

From behind this decaying grin I foolishly call out; “You and I forever”
But no, you must depart from me
For in the graveyard I must remain
Digging ever-deep into the black earth

Perhaps one day you will join us here
We, the Sweethearts of Suffering!
We will teach you of our ways come that day!
