Wal-mart style...... |
Okay! You got a job at Wally World! There is a lot of opportunity for advancement. If you know how to play the game. 1. Do not be ashamed to snitch on another associate . 2. Take credit for everything good and blame someone else for the bad stuff. 3. Get into the click. There is always an inner circle of associates, who have friends in management. 4. This is an important back up plane; if your a woman do not even try. It's a old boy network. Your just a skirt. There is a DVD on Wal-Mart corruption, but Wal-Mart sued the production company and its toast. One of the most common mistakes people make about courts is that they are concerned about justice. They are dedicated to enforcing the law and maintaining order. This is my observation. Wal-mart does not want a full staff of employees. The typical Wal-mart is understaffed. The payroll is a cash drain. Management wants to intimidate employees. They do not want unions. Here are some terror tactics I witnessed: Playing statue. Yes, management will surround an employee and play statue. This can also be used to make an employee late to punch in. Staring. This tactic goes along with the statue routine. Management and associates spend the day staring at a problem associate. The three way coaching. Three chairs are placed in the store manager's office: one for the department manager, facing the associate to be coached. The other for the store manager, facing the two other chairs at the right. The store manager makes the complaint for the department manager, while the department manager stares at the associate in silence. Naturally, the associate wants to speak to the one making the complaints. But, he is told to face the department manager. This is very disorientating for the associate. These techniques are also used by the police. Shouting. Shouting is an effective way to emphasize certain words. "Muzzy! ihopeididn'tstartleyou. ineedthese CARTS! putawaybeforeyoupunchout" This request forces the employee to either work overtime or off the clock. Working overtime can lead to a coaching and loss of hours or termination. A list of reasons to terminate you will begin at your hiring. Usually its late punches. Wal-mart has a human resource department devoted to making up reasons to fire you. The human resource department told a friend of mine that they could not schedule around his wife's chemo. A female associate, who filed many sexual harassment complaints against a manager was fired by human resource's detail punch report. She was late punching, because the manager was hitting on her.. One my favorite stories is the pregnant head cashier's revenge. This is a Home Depot drama. This head cashier got knocked up by the store manger, who asked human resources to do a detail punch report on her. Well, she got a DNA subpoena and the store manager is paying child support. Right on! The store manager got transferred. When you walk into a Wal-mart, it is clean and well organized. If it is not, you can call the phone number on your receipt and get someone fired. Cashiers like to turn their name tags around for this reason. There usually, getting the customer complaints, before the service desk. Fear. Is the glue that binds every Wal-mart associate. Management will follow you home with a phone call: "Muzzy? I just noticed on the security camera . You didn't place a $20 on top of the register till, before counting back the change." It was 10pm. I thought it odd to call me at home and off the clock. But, management wanted me to know they could do anything they damn pleased. Wal-mart is in love with surveilance. They have been caught putting bugs in lunchrooms and at every speaker phone. Cameras are everywhere in the store, but folks have been mugged in the parking lot. Once again the priority is money, not the safety of the customer in the parking lot. That's why I like to shop at Wal-mart. You can't beat the prices. + ^ V |
