Destiny~ Where is it yours will take You....
~Destiny~

I wake up in the morning and rise from my bed
My minds not awake so I’m like the living dead
I walk into the kitchen for a cup of motivation
Going back to sleep is becoming a temptation

But that’s not an option so I begin to get dressed
Because I have a job they tell me that I’m blessed
Then a sinking feeling starts to envelop my heart
When I turned the key and my car wouldn’t start

So I grabbed some change and ran out the door
Because the boss said I can’t be late anymore
Running down the street just as quickly as I can
And then still missed the bus even though I ran

I’d stuck out my thumb and prayed for a ride
When a car passing by me and a truck collide
I quickly ran towards the accident fast as I could
Just as any person in their right mind should

Suddenly noticing something that I did not expect
Searching for survivors in the middle of this wreck
The face inside the car was my boss from work
That same guy who is always calling me a jerk

I got him out of the car and now he’s doing ok
And he thanks me almost every single day
So no matter how bad things seem to be
We never know what’s written in our destiny

I wrote this poem back in 2004 and it's always been one of my favorites from my 6th book. How many of us have had days that it just seems like nothing goes right? Sometimes we feel it almost from the moment we wake up. Yet I believe there is a reason or purpose for everything we go through or experience. So why is it we don't just have bad days, but sometimes durations that seem to keep going? And why is it that some seem to get all the breaks and we wish we could just have one. The truth is none of us knows exactly how this existence works. But I believe each of us has a path to follow that leads us either to whom we are or are meant to be. And each person we come across can be enhanced in some way by who we are or treat them. This is why I like this poem so much, because we can be on either side of this story. You could be the person who has to deal with another who treats you badly all the time or the person who constantly disregards the feelings of another. So either way remember, we never know what's written in our destiny. Peace~James
