A poem about a person who's hiding.
Nor Ever Will Be

Pull up my sleeves
And you’ll see my pale white skin
Look at my ankle
You’ll see my one bracelet

Ask me what’s wrong,
I’ll tell you.
But I’ll only tell you a lie
Ask me how I am
And I’ll just hide how I am inside.

Tell me you’re worried
I’ll stop the crying
Tell me you’re happy
I’ll keep denying

Start checking me regularly
And send me away
Don’t trust me, Don’t believe me, Don’t let me go
It will only delay.

Introduce me to God
And I’ll play along
Bring me to church
Surely, you’re not wrong.

Give me some crayons,
I’ll draw you a picture
I’ll include a rainbow, some bunnies
And myself with a scripture

Buy me a piano
And I’ll play as you please
I’ll be a good person
And soon you’ll believe

But give me a room, a notebook, a pen
Give me some space and some time without friends
I’ll write out my story, I’ll try to explain
The inexplicable things, that from my soul have been cleansed.

You’ll learn who I am
Who I was, who I will be

You’d soon understand

Why I’ve kept you so busy
Why I’ve lied through my teeth
Why I’ve let you ignore me

You’d figure it out,
You would finally see it
I’m not perfect
Never was, nor ever will be
