This is a story of not being able to feel emotions and I never want to feel that again. |
No...emotions... I stared blankly at my classroom's ceiling. "...If you all will listen." my teacher suddenly said aloud, penetrating my thoughts. I looked at him blankly. "Will you listen?" he asked me, irritated. I continued to look at him that way. He suddenly burst out laughing. "Okay, that's enough. Please just return to the way you were, okay? Don't just stare at me like that." he laughed. I continued to do so. I tried to smile, but I couldn't. I absolutely could not stir up any feelings. The whole class was staring at me. "You okay?" asked my classmate, Jonathan, who sits in front of me. I looked at him instead. He looked into my eyes and then started to panic. He raised his hand. "Teacher! I think Chasiti has a problem!" he said nervously. Mr Anik came towards me, looking confused. "What is it?" he asked John. "Look into her eyes." John replied nervously. He did. He gasped and looked away. "I-I couldn't see my reflection. It was blank..." he said in somewhat horror. Everyone looked at me now. "I can't feel anything." I said, sounding like a robot. "Chasiti, I think it's because you maybe had an emotion overload or something. Why don't you rest?" Mr Anik said, patting my shoulder. I nodded. He went back to teaching the class, although the room was much more quieter now. "Boo!" my best friend Jessa tried to scare me. She pounced on me from behind. I looked back, still not feeling anything. "Oh, sorry, Chass. I...forgot." she said sheepishly. It was recess. "Where is Camille?" I asked nonchalantly. She was our best friend. "She wanted to grab some food first. You want to?" she asked, I shrugged and shook my head. I started walking towards the canteen. I tripped over a rock and fell on my knees, scraping them. "Chass!" Jessa said in alarm. I got up. "I'm fine." I said, although blood was pouring out of the wound. I could feel the pain, but I couldn't stir up any feelings. Again. "How can you stay so calm?" Jessa asked. I looked at her. "Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot. Again." she added. The day passed like living hell. No matter how many jokes they tried to tell me, I couldn't bring myself to make any emotions. Night, I was at home. I lied in bed, feeling weird. I wanted to cry, so badly. I started to cry. Oh my god. I could feel emotions again! I started to cry with relief. I will never forget that day, nor will I forget the feeling. |
