an old love story
A squirrel asked one day, "Weeping Willow, small and weak, tellme why you cry? The day is warm and sky is blue, still you sob and sigh?"
"Young lad, the sun is warm and crystal blue the morning sky, but sit and I will tell you the reason I cry, Ii was tall and branches straight, a smile upon my face. My heart was filled full, tender and soft, with pure love and grace, but now instead there is a deep dark empty space." A deer overheard the heartfelt tale and asked the glooming tree,
"Weeping Willow, somber and sad, why a space empty?"
"For once I loved, and loved alone, until taken away from me, the one that made me not just a plant, but a tall beautiful tree. I find myself often looking back on the not so distant day, when they came and took the one i loved, the one I needed away. I use to dream that one sweet night I would be visited by a Fay, and she would take me to my love, to were we together could be and stay." The squirrel asked that day,
"Weeping Willow, living in the past, tell me why you cry, the day is warm and sky is blue, still you sob and sigh?" The wind blew and with it came a odd, and scared reply,
"Oh, but now I fear the worst, I am forgetting the love inside, that gave me hope and made me realize..." With a perplexed look in his eye of fear the deer calmly asked,
"Weeping Willow, oh my friend, tell me why I still se tears, for who has caused you pain of so many year?"
"All I say to you is this, love can become your greatest fear." As a tear matted in his eye did grow, he spoke, "Why do you all just now care and want to know, my meloncholy tale of loss and woe? Is it so that you can say, 'I know why the willow weeps, I know, I know.' I was betrayed and love swept away, to a place I cannot say. To me, no longer is the sun's bright ray golden shining in May. My love I fear now lives in lies, where soon the spirit and soul dies. In the night while there I lie, I hear my love in loud, sorrowful, silent cries." A little rabbit asked him them, "Weeping Willow, weeping friend, tell me why this was the end, and do you believe you will ever mend?"
"Why did they leave, or have to go, why not take me instead as their foe? Was love so blind I could not know, what I had, had to go? And if what was done had to be, it is as if I lost not only them, but also me. Now, not blind, now I see, what was to be taken from me. Maybe not now or ever more, shall I know what love is for, yet in my heart, down to the core, I love thee more and more."
A squirrel asked one day, Weeping Willow, small and weak, tell me why you cry."
"For once I loved and loved alone, and shall love until i die."
