A father’s love is absent

A ball never caught,

waiting by the window for visits,

pain framed in window panes, promised disappointment.

A father’s love is absent,

it shows, in shaves taken with no care for the grain.

It shows in the uncertainty of roots and broken confidence

It forms in the realisation of reflection

A father’s love is absent.

The genes carry on, the hole’s filled.

A father’s love is absent no tears for the grave.

A child’s love cost ten pounds on a birthday, the monetary exchange.

A father’s love is absent but his guilt chooses to stay
