She Writes announces the "We Love New Novelists Contest!"— Five Winners Will Skip The Slush Pile!

The She Writes “We Love New Novelists!” contest is a writing contest open to emerging authors and members of She Writes (sign up is free, go to She Writes.com) with the first 2,000 words of a novel (complete or in-progress) ready to show agents and editors.
Our mission at She Writes is to support the efforts of women who write, and through the She Writes “We Love New Novelists!” contest, we are using our networks, connections and platform to provide five first-time women authors immediate access to major literary agents and editors, as well as the opportunity to share their work with the She Writes community at large.
The winners will be selected on the basis of the merit of their entries, which will consist of a cover letter and a 2,000-word excerpt (preferably the first 2,000 words) from a novel, completed or in-progress.  Five winners will receive
“coverage” of their first 2,000 words from two literary agents and an editor at a major publishing house, as well as guidance and advice about what to do with the project next.

Deadline for Submissions: August 16, 2011, at midnight, Pacific Standard Time. No exceptions.

Announcement of Winners: August 30, 2011.
