The One In Hiding

Can anybody hear me?
Hiding inside this body
waiting for the right person to come along
and save me from myself

I hide here waiting
For someone I don’t know
For reasons I can’t tell you
For seasons long and slow

it seems that I will hide here
Forever and a day
Waiting for my someone
To come take me away

Don’t listen to the person
You see on the outside
when she tells you everything is fine
I am silent while I hide

the smiles and the laughter
are all pasted there from fear
of what might happen to us
if someone got too near

the battle that’s between us
rages on eternally
nothing time can do or change
is able to set me free

so I stay in hiding
wishing I could be
the strong one who could change things
and then let me be me.
