Too Much To Ask

The words flow onto the page
as my fingers type diligently.
My pain reflects my actions and
the consequences come instantly.

I cannot help how I feel.
I’m sorry you disagree.
I do not hold your feelings in regard
because you mean nothing to me.

My happiness does not affect you,
I only ask you leave me be.
All I want is peace of mind
and contentment in my surroundings.

I can imagine a world
where I can think without you,
breathe without you,
and live without you.
And when I think of that,

I smile.
