"Softly she sleeps, her breath so still"
Softly she sleeps, her breath so still
Gently lifting, her chest does fill
Calm and collected, a motionless slave
Her peaceful slumber resembles her grave
Undaunted she lays on top of her bed
A pillow beneath her pure thoughtful head
Softly she sleeps, weary for rest
Her breath so still as it fills her chest

The curtains parted, the window bare
The moon is full, and enters there
Bathing her bed in lunar light
Ceasing to fade in the deep purple night
She’s drowned in the white consuming her place
Absorbed in the wash that reflects from her face
Her peachy skin turns a gloomy hue
Her cherry red lips turn to silvery blue

All colour is wasted from the tranquil room
Her peaceful slumber resembles her tomb
Her image is pale, a monochrome scene
Turning uneasy what seems so serene
The only telling that she isn’t stilled
Is the gentle rising as her chest is filled
Softly she sleeps, so gentle her breath
Her blue placid figure a vision of death

The moonlight echo’s the thoughts she can’t use
And conceals the beauty that daylight renews
It reflects the feelings she cannot confess
With her emotions numbed after lost happiness
It tears her hopes and splits the seams
Deceives her love and neglects her dreams
The moonlight echo’s the thoughts in her mind
If the night could take her it would be too kind

Softly she sleeps, her breath so still
Gently lifting, her chest does fill
Her image is pale, a monochrome scene
Turning uneasy what seems so serene
She’s drowned in the white consuming her place
Absorbed in the wash that reflects from her face
Softly she sleeps, so gentle her breath
Her blue placid figure a vision of death
