Becoming a part of the lake as a metaphor for remembering my roots and my identity.
The Lake

I lie face-up, floating,
In a vast pool of chilling, sparkling aqua.
The algae explodes all around me, like confetti,
a party just for me.

And as I swim and spin and stretch
I breathe it in, it fills my lungs
and brings me back to life.
It takes me home.

I raise my arms to the sky, surrender;
and let the current  caress my body, taking me down
into the darkest of the blue.
I twirl with grace.

Around me the lake becomes a deep, dark abyss,
and I peer with delight upon it.
I reach the murky floor, and it seduces me, whispering to me,
deeper,  as it envelops me.

As I become a part of it, I know that it is what I want to be,
who I want to be,
I am reborn.
