The tragedy of death upon the field of battle
The Charge

See the knight upon his horse, with sturdy shield and lance
Watch as his charging steed comes fast to mark the grim advance
With mighty sword strapped to his side and shield in need of worn
And his new and shining crest with feathers all adorn
See the arrows falling fast, and costly flying fierce
Descend to come and take his life and through his armor pierce

Look as he falls onto the mud from his saddle high
And as he rests upon the earth the others still charge by
And now he looks to the clouds, with sunken eyes of blue
And all across is youthful face lays his hair of golden hue
And now his polished armor stained, with rivers of his blood
And his noble banner lies within the trampled mud

His courageous heart in pieces lies there at his lady's feet
The fairest girl in all the land now he'll never once more meet
And so he lays his gauntlet hand across his ruined cape
And his face is painted white as his last few breathes escape
And his loyal hunting hounds, his gaming feral hawk
Now fear to cross the trodden grounds where the hungry crows now walk

So now in the name of noble lords the youth hath come apart
And now his breathing loses beat, no more will drum his heart
So despite the greatest fear and the danger large
No one shall forget the noble lad who there had led the charge
