Three poems. A commentary of sorts.
Scream.
You can scream
In rage.
In terror.
In pain.
In frustration.
In agony of a fractured hope.
From the endless burning of a wounded heart.
In hurt
From words that strike
Deep and hard.
To give voice to a lament.

Scream.
You can scream
In fear
Of a crazy chance taken.
As you fly,
On wings forged of whispers.
In joy
In wild, boundless abandon
Until the hills echo,
Letting the world know
A soul is violently, gorgeously alive.
In exultation,
Because you know how to dream.

Two letters can make a world of difference.
The Screamers.
The Dreamers.
Silver linings and thunderstorms.
Breathe deep, hold strong.
Scream loud.
Sing a song.
Dream.

Starlight, Starbright.

Starlight.
Limed, muted.
Starbright.
Silver traces.
Somber, sere
In the heart of velvet night.

Starlight.
Limed, muted
Starbright.
Somber, sere.
Hear the song
Whispered in fear.

Starlight.
Limed, muted.
Starbright
Somber, sere.
Blood and snow
A soul commuted.

Starlight.
Limed, muted.
Starbright.
Shimmering, broken.
Upon this night,
A story spoken.

Starlight.
Limed, muted.
Starbright.
Shimmering, broken.
Foul deeds done.
Blood the token.

Starlight,
Limed, muted
Starbright.
Shimmering, broken.
A heart awakens.
A wish spoken.

Starlight.
Silver, sheening.
Starbright.
Voices keening.
Swords drawn.
Hearts beating.

Soliloquy

I have flown a thousand miles.
Done a thousand different things.
Swum with fish and dove with sharks.
Climbed a Scottish hillside in the dark.
I have written a thousand words.
Listened to a thousand songs.
Biffed a thousand things,
And now know how to do them wrong.

I have seen castles and marvelous caves.
I have walked among ancient graves,
Gardens lush and forests thick.
I have said hello and waved goodbye.
Held a hand and made another cry.
I have fought and won.
Battled and lost.
But never was my day ever done.

I have never danced a dance.
Walked hand in hand.
Whispered a secret vital to my soul.
Never learned to trust.
To share.
To become one half of a complete pair.
Hidden away, heart and soul.
It is always a soliloquy.

Shyness becomes a veil..
Humor becomes a mask,
Pain, a shield.
A poem, a loop of double talk.
Word upon word.
But there is a final sum.
Fear.

Afraid to dance.
Afraid to share.
Afraid to trust.
Afraid to care.

Knowing a soliloquy could be a colloquy.
