Something New

I decided to try something new today.
Something new, out of the blue, something strange today.
I decided to get serious. Get serious, you say?
I've been doing it on my own; time for a new way.

I thought that I could do this all by myself.
I'm good enough, I don't need nobody's help.
I guess that's why my babies have been on a shelf.
Hidden from the world kept for only my wealth.

Like Scrooge hid his money, I hid my loves.
Kept them as a parrot on my shoulder instead of flying doves.
My faith in my abilities is nothing short of
Thinking it's impossible to be even worth the push or shove.

But in order for people to really, really see me,
I have to put away the fear and insecurity.
I gotta let my writing shine for the world to see.
I'm gonna try something new and it starts with changing me.
