Lesson 3 Writing Assignment |
Oh boy, a chance to write a story or essay about anything I want, anything in the world. What should I write about? I must pick a topic, I don't want to just ramble off words that come to my head. Well, I guess it must be me. As the next up-and-coming author, I must write about the things people really want to know about. And people want to know about me. So, here it is, me and WDC. I have learned so much at WDC. On my portfolio, it appears that I have been a member for over 2 years, but that is not the case. I am more or less a newbie. Two years ago, I happened upon WDC and signed up for a free account. Then I forgot about it. This past April I came across the website and found an old poem that I had forgotten I'd submitted. I decided to add some of my new poetry to the website. I continued to look around, and found contests. I love contests. Contests got me hooked on the site. Though I don't usually win, I still like the competition. Contests made me a better writer. But I still need improvement, so I review. Reviewing others work also makes me a better writer. I'm still not great, but I'm on the road to greatness. I began my journey when I met a nice, informative and witty woman named Karen. She had thoroughly reviewed one of my items. Afterward, I asked her if she knew of any online resources that I might benefit from. Ironically, she was the Head Administrator of the New Horizons Academy at WDC. I immediately enrolled in a class, a class about commas. Yes, that is correct, the class that I am taking to assure my greatness is achieved is a class solely about commas. The material recommends that you to think; the teacher recommends that you have fun. It is an inspiring class that I would recommend to any and everyone. The New Horizons Academy has many classes on various topics. I had anticipated on enrolling in the fall semester and paying the required gift points for tuition. However, since I won third place in the first New Horizons six word contest, I will be able to attend the class without paying tuition. I am so eager to reach my greatness, I am considering on enrolling in two classes at the same time. Becoming great has its downsides too. As I learn how to use a comma, I learn that others don't know how to use a comma. When reading the works of other members, I want to reach inside my computer and take commas out and put commas in. I suppose there is a class on illiteracy tolerance somewhere that I could enroll in. In the mean time, I will focus on striving toward my own greatness and helping others along my path. |
