Flying flags and waves of cheer The Grand Prix race is finally here! Out come all the racing stars Ushered in groups around their cars Vivid visors protecting faces, Adjusting straps to different places. Frenzied fray of mikes and wires, Tell pouncing press their desires. Robotic roars and screaming whine Green lights go – exhausts explode in time.. The first corner is reached too soon, Screeching screams because there’s no room! Tense like moments that seem so still, Frantic fracas - who will get the kill? Skiving driving –missed by an inch, Some still going without a flinch. G-force, pressure, speed times and laps, Adding stress to fill those gaps Tension tight - will he get past, Or will those tyres not outlast? Pit stops in case of rain – Can he get in front again? Finally it all comes clear, Which car is the leader here. Last minute attempts to increase in time, Just before the finishing line. Chequered flag snapped across the rails - Crowd roars and winner hails Champagne showers and bottled drinks The robotic rogue smirks and thinks…………….. Chrissie Nash 2011 |
