Closure for 9/11

For those who were affected deeply by September 11, 2011, it certainly is a day to reflect while feeling a sense of closure. I’m not sure if it’s a day to celebrate like V-J day in 1945, but I find it interesting that college kids around the country are. 40 something years ago, students were demonstrating against the war in Vietnam. Even 20 years ago at the beginning of the first gulf war, there were many on campus who were ant-US government. I was one of them. Now I hope patriotic pride is followed by good will, not nationalism. . I personal feel numb by images of war and have mostly moved on. Last night I heard the news on the radio just as I was falling asleep. It kept me awake . . . for a few minutes. And then I slept peacefully.


Meanwhile internationally I hope there is a lesson learned: Non-violent demonstration always trumps violent action. And please don’t equate the dumping of English tea into Boston harbor with flying jets into buildings. I hope people can see the difference, and continue their fight for freedom through civil disobedience and the social media. Capturing the world opinion is the key. Meanwhile, for those feeling goodnhere in the U.S., it is a momentous day. . .
