I learned my lesson I guess. Love, you are too cruel.
All the things you showed me,
All the words you said
Now that we're over;
They echo in my head.
Replaying like a record,
Without reason;
Without rhyme.
Random verses of your poetry
Playing all the time.
Words fell from your lips
And echoed off of mine
As we made those empty promises
Once upon a time.
We had a dream,
I had a goal
To return to your side
Time ran out,
And you followed suit
When the quota was not met.
Here I sit
At another keyboard
Writing you another peice
Hoping for the best
Hoping that you're happy
With out me by your side.
Hoping that you're happy
With out having me at all.
I once thought
That having each other would have been enough
To see through trying times.
As long as we had each other
And the love we once shared
We could make it through the rough.
I guess it was wishful thinking
I couldn't have been more wrong.
Where did the love go
That I thought was there all along?
My foolish heart believed in us
And strove to see it through
We had our issues, yes it's true
I never thought that being weak was part of them
I found out I was wrong
By watching you.
As you turned your back and gave up
leaving it all to me, again.
I never thought you'd be the one to quit
Your pretty words, and pretty lips
Convinced me otherwise.
That should teach me to believe in love,
Shouldn't it?
