My philosophical education about being a big powerful bowler - best of luck, we need it!
The worst possible scenario can often pay huge dividends
In the form of the big, nasty curve,
The sport of bowling’s most and least treasured phenomenon –
Love is getting that arching rainbow
Into the pocket and striking with fiery precision,
The envy of all of one’s peers;
Yet, this most impressive weapon can lead
To one’s ticklish and brutal demise,
For bowling often consists mainly of accuracy,
Ball speed, and spare shots
To yield its grandest and most palpable rewards.
One can often strike just as well by hitting their target
And repeating this knack consistently with speed;
And since spares are more easily achieved
With this hard and straight release off the hand,
Hard and straight bowlers can often claw and battle
Their way to victory, and more often than not,
Overwhelm the big hook players
In that lengthy war of attrition
That bowling often becomes...

This competitive reality can lead one to wonder,
Is the wieldy, serpentine curve
The luckiest shot in bowling,
Or the more rigorous and tacky specimen?

Does one depend more on luck,
Or on one's own ability…?
