Abilene

Ninety miles from home,
On the interstate outside Detroit City.
Gotta get some sleep,
Before dawn arrives.

Headed south to Abilene,
I reload in Huston
Before returning home
At the end of my week.

I push on,
Living out of Travel stops,
And vending machines,
At rest stops along the way.

Twenty seven hundred miles,
It’s the only life I know.
