Love?

Men try to figure
What it is they see
look deep in these brown eyes
And I ask you to leave me be.

Touch, caress,kiss,
even tease
but do not
try to love me
for the word is unknown to me.

Why you ask?
Why I've never loved? You question?!
It's easy I say,
the avoidance of affections.

The word arrives,next is
anguish and longing,
then endless loneliness,
then no sense of belonging.

I never love, for it is
a meaningful word used carelessly.
What a waste to wait for "the one"
Our melancholy hearts beating endlessly.

But I'll tell you a secret-
Do you wish for me to tell?
I loved quite hard once,
my heart leaped, and it fell.
