A boy granted power that he could not control. Will he destroy a curse or wield a gift? |
Syn The boy smiled, "Seems like only yesterday that I was in school," he said, "now I have an army ready to bow before me." The army he spoke of was not his minions, it was in fact the army of his own country. Though they did not want to, what else could they do? For weeks they had been giving him everything they had and yet not even a scratch. Just three weeks ago Bryan was going to West Oaks High, living the life that every 17 year old should live. He had friends, a girlfriend, and hadn't been bullied since middle school. He was walking home one day when he found a purple colored medallion. It had two snake wrapped in a circle and in the center was a tree inscribed "Syn". Bryan wore the medallion and grew strong with powers. At first everything went fine, but the longer he wore it the more he changed. He began to push everyone away, his friends, girlfriend, and even his family. Soon he was getting angry over everything and attacking people who made him mad. Not long after cops began to arrest him for assaults, but he never stayed long. After Bryan's second breakout the government became suspicious and questioned him. Knowing about the powers they tried to take him and study him, but Bryan had become too powerful. The government then became afraid and attacked him, but they were no match. "I am now Syn, the new ruler of this world!" the boy yelled. For a short time no one moved, then the government started firing. Syn stood there just hovering three stories high with no movement. After the bullets had failed they began firing everything including missiles. No matter what flew his way it disappeared before reaching Syn. After hours had passed the boy lifted his hand, and with the flick of a wrist their weapons were gone. "Bow before me or pay the price!" Syn yelled again. No one moved, they had stopped firing even with tanks still in their possession. Syn, seeing that they had ignored him, lifted his hand and caused the ground to split before them. "Bow or face the worst!" he yelled, this time louder. Still in shock no one moved, they just stared in fear. Syn lifted his hand once more, but as he did a middle aged woman stepped out. "Stop this, you are hurting people who do not deserve it!" she yelled. The boy smiled and before realizing it struck the woman with a bolt of lightning. She fell to the ground, never to breathe again. Pain struck the boys heart as he hovered to the woman. "What have I done?" he asked himself. He sat there holding her, crying for the first time since his dad had died. "I have hurt someone that I love because of this power in me." he said. He stood up and walked away from the body with his head down. Not saying anything, Bryan lifted his hands and summoned purple, crystal-like rocks from the ground. The crystal surrounded his body and formed a tomb around him. Knowing that the medallion was too dangerous, Bryan locked himself and Syn in the tomb. From that day forward, the crystal tomb stood, never to be opened again. The government built a fort around the tomb, hoping to keep the boy out and never to let anything in. Though the crystal was very powerful, they would soon find out that the power inside was not containable. A crack had already started to form the same day that the crystal was formed. |
