I Miss My Friend

I miss my friend. She's been gone for two years.
It happened so fast, there was no time for tears.

We once had such fun and laughed with each other.
And sometimes we bickered like sister and brother.

Those 17 years were the happiest of times.
They were taken from me in the most heinous of crimes.

What was stolen from me was my friend and my life.
And in their place now are husband and wife.

I still see my friend but she's different, you see.
My friend is my wife and her husband is me.
