for I wanted to share his light;
I searched his warmth each day,
and each night;
yet, cold was I left within calculating darkness,
slowly engulfing the space where I stood...
and I soon lost my faith!
I struggled to embrace the moon,
for I too,
wanted to befriend the twinkling stars;
I longed to call her my own,
yet, she stood dependent only upon the shining sun...
hence, I crossed not the sea of loneliness!
I have often wondered if the clay and dust,
from which the weary body is made,
can feel the pain within the heart --
hear the tears of a sobbing soul?
I pray the earth shall embrace me soon,
tightly as a mother would her tearful child...
