two poems on self told lies and life
When your voice is full of warmth,
You shout “hooray, the world is good.”
When your song begins with tears,
You sing “All is lost, all is wrong”
Both are true, are always true,
The utterances of complete agreement
Hold fast whatever you do.

If the world is the world,
Your feelings make it whole,
Today its gray tomorrow marmalade,
Sundays painted orange, Saturday cyan blue
or is it peppered green? A perfect mix of two?
Whatever the color whatever the hue,
Tomorrow is a different color,
A color that comes from you,
These utterances of complete agreement,
Hold fast whatever you do.

Windy days that blow by,
Sunny ones that warm the soul,
All emerge within your heart,
Thoughts and feelings make them true,
Windy days would still be windy,
Though no memory would hold it fast,
Sure enough be blown away,
Days are days, we make them whole,
Within ourselves within our thoughts,
And when we die, they die too.
These utterances of complete agreement.
hold fast whatever you do.

When to the world I said goodnight,
my spirit woke and said to me,
“My dear you heart, it trembles sweetly,
And yet your mind is still.’
Though the night air cool and soft,
Caressed me in the dark,
The heat I felt inside stirred up
Old fears began to hark.
Festered wounds from bitter days,
Love that never cooled
Ambitions placed aside,
In tomorrows made for fools,
I’d shut them from my head
And thought that I was true,
But dreams know all inside.
My cowardice and ignorance,
Had shown all I could do.
