Well this story is starting to come towards its end. Hold on for the last chapters. |
They crowded towards the center of the of the square where it looked like a makeshift stage had been built. They saw the General getting up on the stage and grab a mega-phone. As the flow of people gathering around the stage started to slow down the General started speaking somberly: " Hello everyone, this is our fourth day since the mass breakout and though we have lost many people in the breakout we have not lost hope. We have built this base and we have established this society. I want to remind you that the doctors are available to look at injuries everyday from ten to five. Now for some less uplifting news. We have retrieved news that a mass of infected have come together in close proximity to our new home. We are closing the gates and putting the city on high alert for the next three days and then sending a group of soldiers out to see if they are still there or not. If we are attacked then everyone that can hold a gun will start at the farthest wall from the center and then God forbid we are overrun we shall retreat wall by wall until we make our final stand right here at the center of our safe haven. Thank you for your attention and understanding. You are now free to leave." As the General stepped down from the stage everyone started to disperse. He looked at his wife and they knew that the time to stand against these monsters would come sooner or later so why not sooner. As they left the stage he found an open spot with a few vacant tents that had been set-up so they asked around to see if anyone was living in them, found out that they were vacant, then walked inside. They talked about what they thought would happen if the infected attcked the base and decided that it probably would not end well. After talking for a while they decided to get some sleep as the next few days would be nerve racking. As he was going to sleep he heard a group of soldiers walking past and talking about there mission to scout the infected mass that night. The next morning he got up before the other two and stepped out to get some air. He saw a group of people and went over to talk to them. " Hey." He said. " Hey. I'm John. How are you this morning?" " I'm fine. You?" " I'm well. Have you heard about the soldiers?" " What about them?" " A group of them went out to scout them last night and only two came back. They were apparently jumped by the monsters." " I thought that I heard someone leaving last night. Must have been them." He thought back to that hazy moment when the soldiers past his tent. " Yeah well they think the attack is coming today. So watchout." " Thanks for the tip. I'll see you around." He walked back to the tent and grabbed his pack and kept it with him. The rest of the day past without event so he slept soundly that night to. After waking up he and his wife went to the area where a general food court had been set up. As they were eating they heard a siren going off. " Everyone who can shoot report to the nearest section of wall we have heavy forces coming at us from all sides. I repeat, we have large numbers of infected coming from all sides." The message kept playing and as he grabbed his pack he told Sharon to go to the center of the base and find cover. He ran towards the wall closest to him which was the east wall and he knew that this fight would decide the future of humanity. |
