I envision the perfect woman - although it would be impossible for her to exist.
Always Watching
I sit in solitude, awaiting an angel with the boldness to intrude,
On my magnificent imaginings, in which my tears are accrued.
To wipe my cheeks with her wings, and bid me farewell,
For I am a wanderer, and I’ve got a story to tell.
She was an angel whose homeland I could not theorize
For her wings had met a malicious demise…
She seemed too placid to have deserved such a fate,
Her beauty was too great for her Heavens to abate.
Her voice was reduced to a tentative whisper…
Her heart had been black, and cracked; lit on fire,
My vision refocused, her voice gave me solace
My wings regained form and our hearts strung a chorus.
Her heart fractured and out came a light…
As if our jollity had corrected this blight…
The breaks in her wing were utterly amended
And this mistake made by Heaven corrected.
Although, this planet could not hold her for long.
She had to get back to where she belonged
Our souls departed and hearts disconnected.
While my fantasies rekindled, our souls separated
Her body lay there, decaying, as her soul would escape
From my world to hers where the demons laid waste
Hell beckoned to her as I hearkened to hear
Her heart beat again, though the sound was unclear
Her corpse would lay there… beyond repair
Her chest, rendered grotesque, exposed to harsh air,
From there her soul left while I mourned and wept…
Over a love, whose soul seldom met mine, for hers had been swept.
By a world which kept neither Heaven nor haven to keep her in check
As my tears overflowed, as my angel laid there in wreck
With her wings torn and her outworn dress in shreds
I took a note clasped in her fists that read –
Do not dread, do not mourn.
Over a love that lost its form.
Do not fear I am still here.
To wipe off every tear.
Though our hearts no longer sing…
Our souls forever dance in sync.
To the cadence of our breaths
As we skip a thousand deaths
When the Heavens unseal
In your dreams I will reveal
A treatment for our burdens
And cotton for your moments of lament
Until our hearts strengthen
Our songs shall be awakened
In the depths of your dreams
Till our love’s strength is redeemed
The Heavens will always be dark and eerie
Until then, lay your ears upon the ground
And listen carefully for the sound
Of my muzzled voice… or my shriek
Or the silence… of my heartbeat
