I once knew this girl
a peculiar kind of girl

Quiet and shy, her friends were few
often times this made her blue

Her only comfort was in the art she made
the time spent drawing would make the sadness fade

Ignored and ridiculed.... too scared to let people get close
it was the getting hurt that she feared the most

She watched the smiles and laughter from afar
paralyzed from living, trying to heal from the deep scar

Self-inflicted pain she did hide
nobody questioned her condition, she looked normal on the outside

Years passing her by........she's much older now this girl I knew
Her phobia less severe, still relationships are few

Slowly learning to love herself so she can stand tall
Be patient with her......it takes time to bring down her wall

Lesson here is struggles may seem less severe
should she just open up and let people near

There's no 10-step program for someone that hides
So this girl searches for others like her to comfort and to confide...........
