Day 1: Rationing food 31.8.2010



“Right my love, we have to save money when it comes to eating on this trip”. Kobus was adamant we start to act frugally since we had just arrived at the airport hotel near Heathrow by taxi which cost £21.60. We could have got the Hoppa bus for £4 each! We told ourselves that we have learnt from our mistake as virgin travellers and in future we should:



A)    Ask the taxi driver how much the fare will be prior to getting in the car or

B)      Just wait the 40 minutes for the damn bus and try not to be so impatient!



Our food rationing strategy is to share all food so that we are not wasteful, we save money and we don’t over stuff ourselves and become fatties.

Sharing a bowl of leek and potato soup and a burger and chips was quite romantic. We got some funny looks from the waitress but we didn’t care. It was satisfying to finish the whole meal between us and not have any left overs. Proper team work! And all for only £16.40, which included an orange juice! Kobus got a tap water – tight arse!
