Promise...
I pray and pray and pray,

Hoping you’ll come home one day.

You said that you would miss me,

And I said the same to you, Daddy.

You promised you would come home,

So I would stop feeling all alone.

I promised I would be strong,

But I guess I was wrong.

But I knew you would come home.

Each day that I lay in bed,

I remember everything you said.

You said you would be home soon,

On the fifth say of December at noon.

Two more days away,

And you’ll be home safely.

But I will pray until that very day.

As I see soldiers arriving off the bus,

I see you smiling at us.

You had some cuts and bruises but I didn’t care,

I was just happy you were there.

You gave me a hug,

And I felt so snug,

To be in your arms again.
