What does a person do when all that means life is gone?
Nine years ago ...
A woman stood alone, desolate,
all her family destroyed by
wanton winds that whirled
and wiped all away.

Nine years ago ...
A house that had been home
disappeared as if it never was.
A few scattered papers and
an empty concrete slab left.

Nine years ago ...
She faced a future unknown,
unwanted, undeserved, ugly,
her reasons for living gone,
taking but few moments of time.

Nine years ago ...
Nine years ago ...
Life stopped,
never again to start.
