Note to self on New Year's Resolutions |
Dear Me, Yes, oh dear me. I've made my New Year's Resolutions for the year, as I've done every year since I can remember. Will I finally be able to fulfill it this time? Let's see, how many did I keep? How many fell by the wayside within weeks of the first day of the year? 1. 1967 - I vowed to marry the man of my dreams, though I had not yet met him. We were married on November fourth that year after a six month courtship. Okay, I kept that one. 2. 1968 - Lose Weight after birth of first child. Oh well, too bad I got pregnant two months later. Gained another thirty pounds. 3. 1972 - After two boys, another pregnancy. I vow to lose the weight this time! Discovered the joy of banana splits. 4. 1991 - Resolution: Quit smoking. Hubby told me I'd never do it. Well, after years of puff-puff, puff-puff, I am proud to say I kept this resolution. I haven't touched a cigarette in twenty years. 5. 2006 - Pray each night to heal my broken heart. God took my only daughter to be his angel. I've kept part of this resolution, though I know my heart will never heal. Oh dear me, I do hope I can keep this year's vow. I want to begin writing again. Oh dear me, I just did. I fulfilled my New Year's Resolution. |
