Journal entry.
I run through the dunes
Of another endless sunrise
And wait for something to change.
The waves never bring anything new,
Only the same lies and foam.
The sun will always rise, it will always set,
And I will always be here.
Waiting to feel like something is real,
Like I'm not a grain of sand alone
In a mess of incoherence.
The train home is lonely, but what else could it be?
Trapped in a city of light and noise,
I stumble on home the way we used to
Before I could stand on my own.
But now I'm alone, I can't wait for you,
And it's cold on the beach while you're gone.
Without you I can breathe, smell, sing,
But the shells are still sharp on my feet.
