a poem about dealing with pain and anger
Road
There is a sound to the pavement.
A tough smack
as I walk in synch with the steamy smell,
of bitumen and dust.
Rain scatters
across the road
turning grey to black.
I have a rhythm on this path,
a mood pace
that says I won’t give in.
It’s hard in my thighs
in every step and breath,
every leaf
and branch I break,
an echo of my heartache.
