The wildest Wedding. Two pair of identical twins meet. |
Bobby ~ Brian and Susan ~ Sara As babies, the Darcy twins were adorable and very well behaved; it only took four weeks before they were sleeping through the night. As toddlers they were a handful, getting into everything and mischief was the order of the day. Adolescence was filled with intolerable in fighting and the teen years were a nightmare of wisecracks, pranks and confusion that became commonplace in the Darcy household. Dad never could have imagined how bad it could become until Bob and Brian decided to marry Sara and Susan, also identical twin sisters who were a pair of mischief’s minx. After college the four of them met while working for a large conglomerate in midtown Manhattan. When the office manager found out that they had two sets of identical twins in their employ, they decided to put them together in the same office area. For three days confusion reined, until they finally realized the prank that had been played on them; they all became close friends that turned into intimate relationships and finally engagements. The preparations for a double wedding can be quite hectic but they all are excellent business managers and quite organized, so operation Wedding went along smoothly. Day of the Wedding Brides and bride’s maids scurried about the hotel room primping and fussing. The ten men constituting the male portion of this party were in the back of the church sipping Tennessee Whiskey. Bobby, Brian, the Best Men and ushers quietly sat and discussed the coming days event. Finally the hour approaches, the ushers take their places seating the guests. The Pastor, flanked by the brothers and best men stand before the altar. All is ready. The organist plays a solemn chord: the next thing the guests hear is “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” over the PA system. The wedding party square dances in down the aisle and the two gorgeous brides dance in with their father. The music continues after they reach the altar, the father kisses each, then hands his daughters to the bridegrooms and they dance with each other. Twisting about and changing partners a number of times. The pastor’s eyes shifting back and forth trying to distinguish the couples, but they are identical. Finally the music came to an end and the two couples stood beside one another in front of the Pastor. “Dearly Beloved, We are gathered here to join…” He is interrupted by the bride on the left pointing at the one on the right and they switch places, both apologizing for the interruption. The Pastor begins again. “Dearly Beloved, We are gathered here to join…” And again the two couples start to whisper at one another and the two Grooms switch places and they apologize. Pausing for a moment he looks sternly at both couples and continues. “..,Join these two couples together.” Turning a little to his left. “Do you Susan take…” She raises one finger and points to the other bride, so he turns to the right. . “Do you Susan take Brian to be your…” Where upon the two Grooms quickly switch places, the Pastor takes a deep breath and continues. “Do you Susan take Brian to be your lawfully wedded Husband?” She responded with “Sure!” The Pastor raised and eyebrow, the other bride correctly answered. “I Do.” Poking her sister. Turning again, now frustrated at the shenanigans, “And you Sara?” She smiled and affirmed his assumption. “Do you Sara take Bobby to be your lawfully wedded Husband?” She answered, “Okay!” Susan poked Sara in the Ribs saying, “I Do!” He turned back to the left. “Your are Brian, are you not?” Brian answered, “Yes I am Pastor.” The next portion of the ceremony went smoothly and the two couples exchanged rings. “By the power invested in me, by the state of New York, I now pronounce you Husbands and Wives. You may each of you kiss your bride.” Each couple, faced the other couple, the girls exchanged rings, switched places and kissed their respective husbands drawing a roar of laughter from most of the guests and a grimaced look from the Pastor. The boys and girls parents just sat and shook their heads sort of thanking God that it was over. Word Count = 702 |
