A sestina focused around life, death, and the pressure to succeed or the pain of failure. |
Oh, the weight of life, And our fear of death. We succumb to its pressure; It's pressure to succeed, When so many times we fail And walk away ashamed of the pain. Wear the shield of pain Each day of our life. Our hearts fail When to our door comes death. Some succeed In hiding away the pain and refuse to die or let die at his pressure. He weighs on us his pressure, Until, too strong is the pain. All who dodge death, know he must succeed, Because what is the point of life, If it has no consequence of death? Who cannot fail. So since death can never fail, We must let go of its pressure. For to us all one day, must come death and pain. In order to the fullness of life to succeed. And our lives must succeed, Even though we fall so much and fail, Because all of this is a part of life. So throw off death's pressure, And fight though the hurt and pain. Because there is life after death. So be prepared for death, But try to live to succeed To push past the pain Let go of your fear to fail, Alleviate the pressure, Live your life. So allow the pain of death to fail, Succeed in alleviating life's pressure, And welcome death for it is only a new beginning to life. |
