Marge gets her revenge. Written for Daily Flash Fiction Challenge
Marge scoffed as Ken walked in with yet another trophy on his arm. It was the third one in the month since they’d broke up. As she watched his slow, deliberate march across the room she realized how pompous he’d always been.

Why did I even come to this party? His date looked like a high-end catalog model, and Marge sat there at the bar with only her friend Sharron as company. She stirred her drink absentmindedly and thought about leaving.

“You’re not going anywhere.” Sharron grabbed her arm. “If you do, he’ll know he won. Don’t let that bastard have the satisfaction.” Marge sat back down. “Let me buy you a drink.”

“I was hoping I could have that honor.” Marge whirled around and looked directly into the chest pocket of a man’s suit. She followed the suit up to a brilliant smile and sparkling blue eyes. It was David Wellington. Marge was shocked to even be invited to party he would attend. She didn’t know what to say.

“I guess I’ll be running along.” Sharron leaned into her as she swirled off of her barstool and disappeared down the bar. If Ken’s date was a catalog model, chances were David owned the company she worked for.

Marge and David finished their drinks as the band started a slow song. David held out his hand and Marge felt her face flush. For once she would dance like no one was watching. As she glided onto the floor with David, though, she knew someone was watching. As the crowd drifted away and the spotlight shined down on them, the look on Ken’s face was priceless.
