They both looked disdainfully at their teenage son and daughter. The mother lifted her head and shrieked, "Where were you last night?"

Their mouths dropped open in shock and then a smile. "Where were we last night?"

They chuckled and then looking from one parent to the next, two or three times. They collapsed on the floor in front of them in uncontrolled belly laughter. It took a minute, but they regained control, in spite of the sight of both parents increasing their anger levels.

"OK, I will tell you if you both really want to know," the son could hardly believe it. Both of his parents were side by side at the moment and obviously both were equally angry with him and his sister. "I went to see Craig. You know Craig's dad, don't you Dad? Anyway, there was a knock on the door and a friend of his persuaded him to go out for a drink so, well, we followed."

"Why would you want to follow?" their father enquired.

"Well," the daughter piped in. "Maybe the same reason I followed my friend's mum' friend."

"What are you talking about young lady?" The teenagers laughed in spite of their mother's rage.

"I went to see Tracy last night," the daughter began. "After half an hour Tracy's mum had a ... how did you put it?"

"A friend call to ask out for a drink," the son reminded.

"Yes, that was it. A friend of Tracy's called ..."

"Yes, well, that is none of our business, now is it?"

         "Really? Why not Dad?"

Both parents were silent. The son had to break the stalemate.

"Yes, Mum and Dad, why isn't it our business who called on my friend's dad and my sister's friend's mum? Where were you both last night?"
