In the darkness of the night...my mind came across bright light......... |
The sun had deserted the sky hours ago, And the rays followed it behind. A cloak of darkness veiled the sky, brightness had to go. Nox let loose all her power, Clouds obscured the moon, wind went tranquil, The only sound in the serene surround was the heavy shower. Rain-washed the street with all its might, To get ahead of the others every drop did fight, The chilly air had left the grave, become a friend of rain, Gallons of water rushed down the road, overflowed the drain. In the warmth of room, a cup of coffee hot, Heat proved a welcome treat in cold that chilled the bone, By the window, beside the pane, I sat all alone, Tried of taking all the challenges that life had always thrown. My gaze wandered at slow pace, got stuck at one place, In the blackness of Nox’s hair, a soft light lot bright, The light fell aground, with light shadow did fight, At precise center of battleground, a boy sat and stooped, Held a kid tight to him, around her his arms looped. The soft light fell on his face, the agony to illustrate, The cold had his teeth chattering, eyes cried at his fate, Soaked clothes made his frame shiver, But his arms around her did not quiver. The rain drenched him sans mercy, Cold did not abstain to chill his bones, He scooted to the innermost shade, With his hand over her head, The child looked at him with scare eyes on pallid face, And to him he gathered her in an embrace. Here I was, sitting all alone, Maybe with al the comforts that were known, And who was I jealous of, A kid who would fight for bread’s loaf. In the darkness of the night, in the absence of light, The truth on me did dawn, Of all the sensate pleasures of world, Love and companionship was the swan. Last night, in the deadening quiet, I got the message most precious and rare, Something that no one bothers to care, Companionship, love and affection Beats everything, one and all, in of priorities, the selection. Blessed with money and pleasures of life, Cant live bereft of love in world without strife. |
