A nest upon the branch
Secret place, hiding thus
From peril and pitfall alike
Wait, dear nippers, she flies near.
Flight of the homemaker, come back at last!
Steady and true her wings do span
O'er the land, the water, the vine.
Hear the song of a melodious aria.
Cradle the darlings,
Winged cup to hold them to breast.
Whislte and charm to ears unborn
"Je taime, je taime" she coos.
Feathers of red and orange,
Encircle and enfold
Bairn be hers and alone to her.
Whilst morning sun touch the hill
Till shade of eventide envelope the sky.
