Darcy is a boy who struggles at sports and games - a poem.
There once was a boy named Darcy Grey
Who adored contentment, and loved to play,
But with each game he chose, he’d likely witness,
His inherent battle with unfortunate lameness…

His struggle with lameness perplexed him so much,
Yet no game or sport could avoid his bad touch.
But soon, the whole world knew his ill-gotten shame –
That this struggle with gaffes was his infamous claim!

Finally, one day, his dad took him aside,
And peered at his son with most noteworthy pride –
He told him, be patient and simply relax;
Passivity toward an activity’s not lax…

He said one other thing: “Be positive and true,”
And above all, he said, “Let the game come to you!”
“Slowing things down, instead of trying much faster,
“Will give you control, while avoiding disaster.”

Darcy began to enjoy much success,
But stopped playing a lot, for his head was a mess –
Winning took effort, and these tools gave some fun,
But too little joy when Darcy was done…

Darcy soon learned that his goals were worth reaching,
And never to argue with his daddy’s fine teaching.
If trying too hard was worth fiercely debating,
Then why not try now – for what was he waiting?

The moral of this story is when you relax,
The truth becomes knowledge; and those are the facts –
Getting what you want can be very rewarding,
But being a champ requires waiting, then soaring!
